Speech & Language Therapy

Growing Sounds provides in-home pediatric speech and language therapy

As a busy parent myself, I know how difficult it can be to find the time to get to office appointments. My goal is to make finding speech therapy near me a simple, stress-free process. I proudly serve the Olathe and Overland Park areas with compassionate, individualized speech services, for kids ages 12 months through the teenage years, tailored to your child’s unique needs. I’m happy to meet your child at your home, or for those in daycare or preschool, I’m happy to meet them there if that’s easier for your schedule.

If you are questioning whether or not your child really needs speech therapy, read the statements below. If you think YES! to even one of them, your child could likely benefit from speech or language therapy.

  • I understand my child but others seem to have a hard time.

  • Other adults look to me to interpret what my child has said to them.

  • My toddler seems to understand me but isn’t talking in response yet.

  • My toddler understands me but I’m not sure what they’re saying when they reply.

  • My baby or toddler isn’t babbling or playing with their voice.

  • My toddler is very quiet during play and doesn’t seem to want to interact with others.

  • My toddler doesn’t seem to understand directions during our daily routines or when I’m playing with them.

  • My child is a confident speaker but I notice specific sounds that don’t sound right to me.

Meet the therapist

Hi, I’m Amanda Ball, and I’ve been working with kids as a speech-language therapist since 2010. As a mom of two young boys, I fully understand the stress and concern parents can have about their child meeting developmental milestones. I also understand we all have busy lives and full schedules. I started this practice to bring my experience and compassionate care into families’ homes, to offer speech therapy that is convenient and effective for your family.

I have extensive experience working with babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. I specialize in early language development, helping babies and toddlers find their voices and words and transforming them into effective communicators. I help preschoolers and school-age children improve their speech clarity and gain confidence in their abilities to express themselves. I’ve also worked extensively with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers who are deaf or hard of hearing that use hearing technology, such as hearing aids and cochlear implants.

I believe children make the most progress when they feel connected, engaged, and supported, which is why I match session activities and goals not just to a child’s developmental levels but also to their interests and personality. When working with babies and toddlers, you’ll typically find me getting down to their level, using play-based therapy activities. For preschoolers and school-aged kids, I’ll typically sit at a table to engage them in a motivating learning activity, while incorporating some movement breaks when needed.

At Growing Sounds, my goal is to help children grow their communication skills AND to help families feel confident, empowered, and connected along the way.

Family Feedback

  • We've had the privilege of working with Amanda for over a year, initially beginning sessions during the summer to maintain momentum for our school-aged child. The progress was so impressive that we continued throughout the school year. Not only have we reduced the need for in-school services, but we've also seen incredible growth in our child's confidence and communication in everyday life.

  • Amanda makes every session engaging with games, reading passages, challenges, and worksheets—all thoughtfully customized to suit our child's needs. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate speech therapist.
